What I learned from CARD

I was super stoked to have taken this class! I learned so much throughout my time in the hot, yet memorable Goldspohn classroom. We did a total of 3 major projects in this class, and they all taught me something different individually which I thought was super cool. The microtheme taught me that every word on a paper is valuable, as you had to fit all your ideas into a 1 page paper. Filler words just will not cut it, every word mattered, and that opened my eyes more and more, and now whenever I write papers, I always do a couple glances to avoid filler words.

The Documentary Project was super unique and very fun. It taught me how to watch and analyze a film through class concepts, and ethos, pathos and logos. I never really used ethos, pathos, or logos for a while, so using them again was super unique and fun. These will for sure help me write better papers in the future, because they all 3 give such different tone and meaning. Ethos, is credibility, logos is logic, and of course, my personal favorite, pathos which conveys the amount of passion you have towards the subject. Furthermore, the Rational Argument paper had to be my favorite project we did. I love arguments and trying to prove my point, so this was the perfect paper for me. It allowed me to use as much pathos as I would like as well which I really enjoyed.

To draw a close to CARD 101, I would like to thank my teacher for making my experience unforgettable, and would like to thank my classmates for all the valuable feedback and fun they contributed to the class throughout the semester. I don't think I will ever forget this class, as was the first ever classroom I went into for my collegiate career, only making the memories more important to me. CARD taught me various different ways to write a paper using various different persuasive and logical standpoints, and has for sure taught me to write better in any class I choose in the future. As a journalist major, I do a lot of sports writing for articles, and I couldn't have asked for a better start than this when it comes to learning writing styles in college
