Chicago Blackhawks home opener

On October 21st, 2023, Connor Bedard will take the ice at 7:00pm, in which he will attempt to help guide his Blackhawks to a home-opening win over the defending Stanley Cup winning Golden Knights. The Knights (5-0-0) have shown no signs of slowing down since their cup victory over the Florida Panthers this past June. The Hawks look to shut the door on the Knights after finally completing their 5 game road-stand to start the season.

Chicago opened with Pittsburgh on the road, and proceeded to play Boston, Montreal, Toronto, and Colorado. 4 of those 5 are cup contenders, while 1 is a playoff contender. Just a brutal start. Luckily, Chicago came out of that mess 2-3-0, with wins @Pittsburgh 4-2, and @Toronto 4-1. Arvid Soderblom and Petr Mrazek have split starts thus far, however Soderblom will get the start on the blue ice tonight at home. My final score prediction is 4-2 Vegas (One being an empty-netter), but I do think Bedard gets a goal, as well as Corey Perry. Mark Stone will also register a goal for Vegas in my opinion.

The main idea here for Chicago however, is the development of the team. As long as the young guys are getting better, Chicago is happy. Guys like Connor Bedard, Lukas Reichel, and Kevin Korchinski to name a few are the future of this team, and Chicago has to do the best they can to build around them. I am not saying to tank, however, it would be nice to get more high-caliber young players to put around these guys for the future. Tanking is very detrimental to a teams' morale, as you do play to win the game, but some may consider that a risk they are willing to take in order to be great in the future.

The projected lineups are as follows for Chicago:

Hall - Bedard - Raddysh

Johnson - Reichel - Athanasiou

Foligno - Dickinson - Perry

Katchouk - Donato - Johnson

----------------------------------------

Korchinski - Jones

Vlasic - Murphy

Tinordi - Kaiser

-----------------------------------------

Soderblom (1-1, 1.51 GAA, .956 SV%, 0 SO)
